Haiku
Briefly, haiku is a form of poetry originating in Japan, traditionally containing seventeen syllables in three lines of 5-7-5 which encapsulates a perceived moment of nature/awareness. However, contemporary haiku has a wide and complex remit, so if you want to know more, settle down for a session with Google. A good place to start would be The British Haiku Society and The Haiku Foundation.
Discovered haiku and its associated forms during my MA in Writing in 1995, dabbled for a bit, then it somehow got sidelined for twenty years. Recently been drawn back, particularly to haiga—the combination of haiku and artwork or photography.
No haiku here at the moment but some links to associated work, both (very) old and new (ish).
